We comfort ourselves by reliving memories of protection. Something closed must retain our memories, while leaving them their original value as images. Memories of the outside world will never have the same tonality as those of home and, by recalling these memories, we add to our store of dreams; we are never real historians, but always near poets, and our emotion is perhaps nothing but an expression of a poetry that was lost.
I'm still digging into the book The Poetics of Space and it is informing a lot of my thoughts about this project. I wanted to share the quote above as it plays with the idea of keeping history safe and the relationship between the individual, memory, and space.
This week we met for a lighting consultation and critique of our the design developments we have made so far - with a focus on the first floor. I think a lot of what needs to be done before the end involves refining my plans, converting my RCP into a lighting plan, and further adding to my FFE selections. I also need to bring more detail into my renderings as well as scale figures. I hope to teach myself how to add blurred-out scale images because that seems to look the best in my opinion. While making these changes I am also still finishing up branding items like a business card, menu plaque, table setting, and custom elements specific to the restaurant.
